PSA is an Ottawa based psychological firm which was established in 1974.
Since that time, the organization has gone through several transformations,
but always with the philosophy of providing the finest expertise in the
treatment and development of people. Our work is aimed at assisting individuals
to achieve enhanced quality of life by assessing current strengths and
weaknesses and implementing development programs. The majority of individuals
seen in this practice are referred by physicians, lawyers, schools, social
agencies and Employee Assistance Program offices in the public and private
sector. Our services include psychological assessment, adult and child psychotherapy,
family and couple counselling, personal and career counselling, and psycho-educational
assessments.
Our team of consultants represents a variety of academic and professional backgrounds.
We have worked with numerous clients in the private, public and non-profit sectors.

STAFF ALONG WITH THEIR AREAS OF INTEREST
DAVID NOZICK is a registered psychologist with over twenty-five years
of clinical experience. Dr. Nozick’s interests are career counselling,
family counselling and consultation to management. Dr. Nozick is the
former director of psychology and the former director of marriage and
family therapy at the Civic Hospital. For many years he was a school
psychologist with the Ottawa Board of Education. Dr. Nozick has been
the director of PSA & Associates since 1997.
RENA BOROVAY is a registered psychologist with over twenty-five years of experience.
Dr. Borovay’s areas of expertise are in Child and Adult Psychotherapy, Academic,
Personality and Vocational Assessment as well as Disability Assessment.
Dr. Borovay is the former supervisor of the Children’s Outpatient Department at
the Royal Ottawa Hospital and has been associated with PSA & Associates for 20 years.
ANDRAS ROBERT has been a registered psychologist for twenty-seven years. A past
President of the Ottawa Academy of Psychology, and examiner with the College of
Psychology of Ontario, he has a wide range of expertise with children in school
and within family setting, as well as with adults experiencing relationship difficulties.
FLORENCE ROSENTHAL is a Certified Counsellor with a Master’s in Education. Florence’s
areas of expertise include women’s issues (including adolescent women), interpersonal
conflicts, adult development, depression, anxiety, self esteem, body image, compulsive
eating, parenting and sexuality (including gay and lesbian issues). Florence has a
special interest in adults who have been abused as children or who have suffered other
trauma, and dissociation. Florence has been with PSA & Associates for over 10 years.
JANICE SKORY-BUDZINSKI is a Registered Marital and Family Therapist with a Master’s Degree
in Science (Health Education) and a Bachelor of Nursing graduate with over twenty
five years of multi disciplinary experience in counselling and crisis management.
Post graduate training includes Individual and Marital Counselling, EMDR level 2 and
Certified Traumatology. Professional affiliations include: American Association of Marriage
and Family Therapy (clinical member), Ontario Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
ANNE MARIE BOURGEOIS is bilingual and has twenty seven years experience working in various
clinical services, including a mental health clinic in Ohio, School Boards, the Royal Ottawa
Hospital’s children’s services, and private practice. Anne Marie’s areas of expertise and
training are primarily in counselling and play therapy for children and adolescents, family
therapy and parent counselling. She is also trained in counselling children of divorce, and
those who are victims of sexual abuse.
GINETTE PETRIE has a Master of Education and a Masters of Social Work. She is registered
in the Province of Ontario as a Social Worker and is a member of the Ontario Association of
Social Workers. She is fully bilingual. She has over 25 years experience in counselling
and crisis intervention; extensive training in post- traumatic stress disorders; individual,
couple and marital counselling; energy field therapy; and EMDR, levels I & II. She is
interested in assisting teens, couples, families and individuals with a broad range of issues.
HOPE HARRIS is an organizational change consultant and a career/employment coach. She holds
a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology, and over the course of her career has
developed an expertise in helping individuals and organizations deal with transition and
change including career management and employment coaching. In addition to being a trained
facilitator, Hope brings to PSA a wealth of experience having worked with educational institutions,
government departments, non-profit organizations and the private sector.
LYNN VERRILLI has a Bachelor of Social Work. She is registered in the Province of Ontario as
a Social Worker. As the intake coordinator for PSA & Associates Lynn will be the first person
you talk to when phone for an appointment or information. Clients find her extensive knowledge
of community resources very helpful. Lynn enjoys presenting seminars on a variety of topics to
groups in the public and private sectors.

- Balancing Family and Work The objective of this seminar is to: discuss stress;
discuss the benefits of connecting with people; discuss the benefits of setting bounderies;
discuss the benefits of delegating; discuss the benefits of humour; discuss methods for
managing our time; discuss the value of taking care of self.
- Managing Stress The objective of this seminar is to: define stress and talk about
the effects of stress; discuss positive coping skills; discuss strategies for becoming a
more resilient person; discuss ways to gain control.
- Effective Communication The objective of this seminar is to: discuss the three basic
communication styles with an emphasis on being assertive; practice the communication styles
through role play; learn strategies for becoming assertive; increase self-confidence and
gain control through proper communication.
- Leadership Skills The objective of this seminar is to: discuss the principles and
benefits of empowerment, motivation, delegation, recognition and feedback, effective
communication along with active listening; discuss the importance of everyone having a
balanced life style.
- Dealing with Change The objective of this seminar is to: discuss the different
kinds of change; discuss the process of change so it is less frightening; discuss how
change effects our thoughts, actions and feelings; learn ways to take control by becoming
a “navigator”; discuss the importance of being strong yet flexible.
- Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) A critical incident is any environmental
event that threatens the safety and security of an individual. It covers a broad range of
events such as riots, hostage taking, assault of an individual, death of an individual etc.
These incidents not only affect the victim but also the individuals who observe the event as
well as those who know the victim. The unpleasant feelings and emotions experienced both during
and after such incidents are the result of the critical incident.
It is important to arrange a debriefing session as soon as possible.
The objective of this session is to: give people the appropriate setting
to discuss the event as well as their behavioural, cognitive and emotional
reactions to the event; validate the normalcy of what people are feeling;
discuss ways to cope with the incident.
